School Board Meeting - May 14, 2026

Superintendent Report

Superintendent Kaufman introduced the Director of Human Resources, Erin Conklin, who presented certificates to staff members for their exceptional contributions to the Mill Valley School District (MVSD). This annual tradition honored the dedication and talent that define our district community.
Key recognitions included:
  • Golden Bell Award Nominees:  These members of staff were acknowledged for their innovation, excellence, and deep commitment to student success.
  • Service Milestone Recognition: Staff reaching 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of dedicated service to our schools and families were recognized.
  • Retirees: Staff members who are retiring at the end of the year were recognized for their lasting legacy. In their honor, a thoughtfully selected book with a special bookplate has been donated to each retiree’s school library.
The district is incredibly fortunate for the profound difference these exceptional individuals make every day. You can view the slide presentation here, and the YouTube video of the event.

Student Learning and Programs

Kate Sprague, the Director of Educational Services, delivered a presentation on the 2024–2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).  Her update focused specifically on the key milestones, progress, and adjustments implemented during the 2025–2026 school year. For specific details shared during the meeting, you can access her full LCAP presentation.

Financial

Assistant Superintendent Paula Rigney presented a verbal report to the Board outlining the process in sourcing and selecting a food service provider for the 2026-2027 school year.  The process began with a competitive request for bids, drawing interest from three responsible and qualified food service vendors.  The Board approved the agreement with Revolution Foods, securing them as the district's meal provider for the next school year.

Facilities

The Board approved  Resolution # 18-25/26 Exempting the Mill Valley Middle School Renovation Project and Campus from City and County Zoning and Land Use Ordinances and Regulations, and Adoption of Project Construction Noise Policy Resolution.  By maintaining this oversight, the district eliminates city and county ordinances, potentially preventing cost increases and project delays.  Staff is now authorized to file a Notice of Determination with the County to finalize the process.
